richardcook 0 Posted October 8, 2002 Thanks very much for giving us this dignified portrait of Edward. I am sure that his scruffy appearance is offputting and I think you managed to make it clear that he is an individual and capable of some warmth and humor. There are many beautiful landscapes and nature images on photo.net but pictures like yours are among the most powerful and arresting. It is a photo worthy of the Family of Man series and I congratulate you. Link to comment
andrew_brown 0 Posted October 11, 2002 Street portrait, taken on slide film, cross-processed, and then rendered B&W digitally. Any comments welcomed ! Link to comment
koska 0 Posted October 11, 2002 Agree with all that was said above. I liked it as soon as I saw the thumb, but it looked a bit to contrasty. When I enlarged I saw the textures on Edwards face... Great shot! Link to comment
jason neymeyer 0 Posted October 13, 2002 An interesting character, but a little to contrasty for my taste. This shot brought an immeadiate smile to my face. Link to comment
ian_greant 0 Posted October 13, 2002 interesting composition and portrait... but rather over exposed. The loss of detail in the highlights is rather disappointing in such a character filled face Link to comment
elliott_rounsavall 0 Posted October 31, 2002 I really like your work a lot- good stuff going after worthy subjects. My only criticism is that you haven't seem to have found your 'print style'. Your photos range in contrast and brightness, and I think with a little more attention in the digital darkroom you could have some outstanding images. Link to comment
andrew_brown 0 Posted October 31, 2002 Hi Elliot, thanks for your comments. You're quite right, my digital skills are still a bit basic. I only have access to what I suspect is quite a poor scanner, and the only software at my disposal is Microsoft photo editor, which is a bit crude (to put it mildly !). But that's enough blaming the tools; I know I have lots to learn about the digital darkroom, and I *am* slowly improving ! Link to comment
koval 0 Posted October 31, 2002 To high contrast or overexposed - I personally like it as it is. Great face expresion Link to comment
jimvanson 0 Posted November 11, 2002 Have you had a chance to go back and rework this shot? I hope you will soon as I believe it's the start of a fantastic photo. Link to comment
julius_bergh1 0 Posted February 2, 2003 Self portrait ? :-) I liked it so much, a stored a copy on my PC. Think of the possibilities for use in office emails - eg. "We would like to welcome the new Marketing Manager who starts next week." Link to comment
