A bright red-orange weather pennant flying from a pole atop the Skinner Water Treatment Plant. I just thought it was striking against the stormy gun-metal blue-grey of the sky. Cheers! Chris

Beyond the simple abstract elements lies one beautifully processed sky. Simple, minimalistic, and artistic all wrapped up in one clever image. Kudos, Bear!

As usual, both intriguing and beautiful. I like this very much, you turned a seemingly unattractive sight, into a very appealing abstract. Congratulations!

If it weren't for the slight taper in the pole, I'd swear I was looking at two separate images - one with the red fabric and one without. I think it's a fine abstraction.

Am I seeing a little bit of halo at the edges of the red? It looks like the sky has been darkened and the selection left just a little evidence.

Nope, nothing special done to this image in post-processing at all. A very slight contrast adjustment, a curves layer to fix the white and black points, flattening, and unsharp mask. That's it! I think what you're seeing, Tim, is the color contrast between the bright red and the blue-grey sky. Cheers! Chris

Thanks for the response! How cool is it that the light made both the dark, threatening sky and the vivid fabric? Very well done!
