Not Here 93 Posted January 15, 2010 Whoa and Wow... This is very very good (in my not so humble opinion). Great range of tones, excellent symmetry and the composition just pulls the eye into the frame. I guess you can tell, I like this a bunch... Mike Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted January 16, 2010 Thanks a lot, Mike. It's nice to have at least one person give me some feedback. I happen to love it too, but maybe it's because I worked so hard on getting the light the way I wanted it. I find that my images don't get much attention when I put them in other categories like Fine Art. Oh well! You might be interested to know that this is a lower-level hallway that divides 2 parts of a river house where Norm's brother lives. River house communities are common along the rivers in the Pacific NW. They're pretty exclusive properties and an interesting style of living.....not for this land-lubber.....but it was nice to experience it as a guest. Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted January 16, 2010 Well, I guess that's why I found this so appealing... I never look at categories. Sigh, I guess I'm missing out on missing some good stuff :-)... Mike Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted January 18, 2010 A good choice to show this in b&w. The darker hallway leading to the well lighted deck works good with the sharpness and the contrast you have chosen. To hell with the "rule of thirds", it would ruin this shot without a doubt. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted January 18, 2010 I just got back from a six-day road-trip; and this is fabulous. You are starting to dial-in your black and white conversions. I would have gone B&W on this too. Superb conversion and composition. Well done! Cheers! Chris Link to comment

Christal1664882414 0 Posted January 19, 2010 Thank you, gentlemen. When I get a positive response from such amazing photographers, it's very encouraging. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Chris, where did your road trip take you this time? I'll have to look at your portfolio to see if I can tell. Link to comment
leo burkey 0 Posted January 19, 2010 I have got to tell you this is the best B&W conversion I have seen of yours. The range of tones couldn't be better and just look how those boards just glow. Very well done, Christal. Link to comment
thistleandthat 1 Posted January 22, 2010 i like this as much as everyone else. my favorite part is the chair and wondering what is casting the long shadows across the floor. MKN Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted January 22, 2010 This is a river house, and there is an upper deck above this area. There are posts supporting that deck, and they are casting the shadows you see. Glad you like this....and thanks for the comment. I almost moved the chair, but I'm really glad I decided to leave it in. :-) Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted April 30, 2010 I keep coming back to this photograph of yours. Truly quite elegant! Something straight out of an upscale architecture magazine. Very, very well done, Christal. One of your very best black and white conversions. You really ought to enlarge, matte and frame, and hang this on the wall. Cheers! Chris Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted May 23, 2010 I'm just seeing your 2nd comment on this photo. Thanks so much for your support of this. You may be interested to know that a local judge liked this too.....it won 1st place in our photo club competition. I was quite pleased with the way it turned out. Still, for me it's often luck rather than skill that produces good quality work.....but I keep plugging away. :-) Hope you're doing well! Link to comment
