whydangle 0 Posted January 12, 2010 I finally decided to deal with this one from almost two years ago. The color version was lacking, but a mono conversion coaxed a little more elegance from it. A simple study of an over-photographed work of architecture. Thanks for your assessments! Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted January 12, 2010 Simply excellent! Out of curiosity, did you try a slightly contrastier version, i.e., a slight darkening of the left side of the background limb? It might enhance the visual separation even more. Superb vision to see this one, Mark. Cheers! Chris Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted January 13, 2010 Thanks Chris. No, I didn't get that far, well, I actually did darken the shaded side of the far arch, but only to this point. I should coax it a little more! Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted January 13, 2010 You know I'm a huge fan of your St. Louis Arch shots, but if hadn't known about them I wouldn't be able to tell what this is. It's an amazing abstract.....I'm sure I never in a million years would have considered this angle. I played with it and I agree with you and Chris.....darker in general works better for me. It takes on less of a metallic look and more a masonry brick look as it gets darker.....at least to me. And that will keep people guessing even longer as to what they're looking at. :-) I also tried this with a dark bold framing treatment, and I thought it enhanced the photo....see what you think.
