Thank you for commenting. The dark areas that cause the 'moon like" lanscape are cloud shadows. The photo was taken from Masada as you would guess. I saw many of the Acacia Trees but not a setting to take a fine photograph of one such as yours. It was a hazy day; hence can almost not "make out" the Moab Mountains of Jordan. Looking from there over to here, it is difficult to imagine why Moses considered this the land of "milk and honey". Could it be due to "Global Warming"? :-) Pehaps we'll take tripods and do this someday.
