michaelseewald 237 Posted January 5, 2010 Ghost of Florence- First competition it was entered in: San Diego Museum of Photographic Art International juried show, 1991. Results: Winner, Best of Show- color (from over 700 world-wide entries, judged by owner of Photo Metro Magazine, San Francisco). Only time I ever entered in that competition. Second Competition it was entered in: San Diego Art Institute's Regional Competition. Results: Winner, Best of Show -all categories (from over 1,000 paintings, photos, sculptors entered, judged by a sculptor). Third Competition it was entered in: San Dieguito Art Guild Annual Competition. Results: Winner, Best of Show- Grumbacher Gold Award (from over 100 paintings and photos). Luck, and serendipity, favors the prepared mind. This image was shot vertical, but the top of the Uffizi Museum was distracting, decided to crop it in final version. It's an un-sponsored image; none of the 12 sponsors (pre-purchase sight-unseen group of people) chose it as a favorite, so it was a 'reject' and is unlimited, unlike my sponsored images. I tell my students, you want to make strong enough work that the ones nobody wants will still win awards, and this one did! TUL Can you find the eight people, shown or represented? Hint, the ghost (green shoes) count as one. Link to comment

michaelseewald 237 Posted January 6, 2010 Thanks Rashed. I don't know, I don't think the average guy looks at it long enough to even see the ghost. I know in competition it was sometimes a 16"x20", even a 24"x30", which of course is much nicer, especially shot medium format/tripod. Most folks in the gallery look to fast too. Every once in a while someone goes nuts about it, then I know they looked long enough. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 8, 2010 I can see the effect on the image, I think people should pay more attention to notice the effect, unfortunatly many of the viewers here they do not give themself enough time to study the image and they come just in response of given a comment in return, spending a little more time to see the image in its full form will help to find out its contents. For me this image is great and not as many images been post on photo.net being just point and shoot. I had to appointed a lady in Thailand to work on such project and include her in my sea scape images last year, I will post one of them here as I do return back from my holidy in Saudia soon. By the way I only bought my 2 hasselblade cameras after seeing your photos and your work with these cameras. My friend, I always enjoyed viewing your work and learn out of them, thank you being here , many must have gained a lot of experinces from you. You take care my friend and enjoy the 2010.
