The scattered shoes and the downward diagonal of the lady give this image a topsy-turvy feel for me...a little bit of a sense of confusion...which is a good metaphor for the complicated relationship between women and their shoes. Choosing shoes for an occasion forces a woman to make a choice...something a lot of them do not like to do. She looks as if she may be appealing to you for help in her decision. Were you able to help?

It's an excellent black and white, by the way...and I like it.

I agree with Jim on this one. It is strange and complicated but when you look hard at it you love it, at least I do.

She looks so happy, a girl with her shoes. I also like the images very much. As pointed out, the strong diagonal, a David McCracken signature lately, works very well. I also feel this would not have worked nearly as well in color. You have come up with a new, unique coverup for implied images.

Jim, Your comment about topsy turvy is very interesting. I have this image on my iPod and when I show it to people they instinctively turn it round. I wish there were lots of women reading the rest of your comment. It might have started and interesting debate. Unfortunately I was not able to help.

What might interest you to know is that this lovely lady was only in Hong Kong for a few days at Christmas. I didn't count the amount of shoes she brought to the shoot but it must have been 7 or 8 pairs.

Owen, I think Jim was referring to the complicated relationship between women and footwear. I don't think he thought the image was complicated. Indeed I rarely take a complicated image. Perhaps I misunderstood you but thanks for stopping by.

Mark, Another interesting comment. I am known for 'tilting' the camera. Indeed Owen coined the phrase 'The McCracken Tilt' which is something I am humbled by. The diagonal here is not so much a tilt but I do see the similarity. Interestingly, I was going to post the colour version of this instead of the black and white. I may post it later.

Paul, I think most women keep their shoes tidy but the thoughts in their heads regarding this subject is messy indeed.

Thanks a lot everyone. I am grateful for your encouragement.
