kslonaker 0 Posted January 3, 2010 A somewhat boring shot I played with considerably. Do the effects work? Comments welcomed - thanks! Link to comment
Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted January 5, 2010 Hope all is well, but in all honesty, I would give this a thumbs down, the reason being mainly because the picture, IMO, would have had more impact left au naturelle because it is such a compelling scene. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted January 5, 2010 Thanks for your honest opinion, Emmanuel. I will post the original later on so you can see what I started with. Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted January 5, 2010 I'm guessing that your original did not have the best lighting which prompted you to try a b&w version. It could have been a great scene with the best lighting being available. Link to comment
WJT 609 Posted January 9, 2010 Hi Kim. I think you made right choice with this one; the crop and ultra high contrast treatment isolates the subjects, changing the meaning and emotions of the scene. In the original, the "fallen comrade" might just as well be rolling around in his daily dust bath to get rid of some parasites. In the altered version we could be seeing a statement on environmental decline. I much prefer the latter. Regards. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted January 9, 2010 Yep, that was my intent, Walter. Obviously, from the original, you can see the zebra was just rolling around on the ground probably because he was itchy. I wanted the photo to have more impact than that. Thanks for visiting. Link to comment
bradkim 8 Posted January 17, 2010 Dramatic and emotive! Excellent post-processing, Kim! Link to comment
