brian_bahn 0 Posted December 31, 2009 Starting to convert some of my images to B&W. Would like to know how I am doing. Any thoughts on this one? Thanks Link to comment
drechsler 0 Posted January 1, 2010 This works well in b&w. The brightness of the ribbon of water against the relatively even greys of the rest of the frame is a great visual focus. Link to comment
berisset 0 Posted January 1, 2010 I'm not sure the b&w is a good idea on this picture.Lack of originality too for me. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted January 3, 2010 I, too, am not sure that this was the best choice for B&W. The ferns and the rocks are very similar in tone, and they tend to meld together and are not very discernible. If you could apply a filter and have the green ferns more distinct, that might help. I suspect that color was very prominent here, and that would be yet another reason why I would recommend keeping it in color. Finally, I have trouble connecting the ribbon of waterfall with the source above it; I think that connection gets even more lost in B&W. I generally don't think it's good when a viewer has to look for a few moments to figure out what's going on in the scene. Link to comment
