This looks so soft, calming and graceful to me - love the extended foot , and the dark red toenail polish gives just enough complimentary color.

Very nice Trisha - and Happy New Year!

Thank you so much for your very kind words. This is my first attempt at a series of self-portrait figure studies. I am glad you like it but I am going to continue working on this idea and buy some proper lighting since this was done with natural window light.

Thank you again for your kind and encouraging words...all the best to you in the new year...much happiness, hope and good health! :)

For being "just" natural lighting this is very good. Nice tonal quality and very equal throughout the whole image.

A good foot massage might be in order!

Happy New Year Trisha,

Todd

I am trying to learn how to studio type self-portraits. This photo was

shot in natural window light; any help or advice or feed back is

appreciated. Thank you for viewing. :)

This is very well done. My only suggestion is that it might have been nice if the toes were positioned so the nice dark red nail varnish was a bit more visible. Regards, Adrienne

Thank you for your suggestion; I will be aware of that next time I try this! Self-portraits are so hard in a small area...not enough room for a tripod and hand held the camera shooting from the reflection in a mirror! I was sitting on a blow up bed with a sheet draped on it...maybe I can find a chair that will take up less room!

Thank you again so much for your kind words and suggestion; I really appreciate it and any suggestions you might have in the future. :)

Trisha,

Your skin tone is very good. Just like posing hands, when viewed from the side feet appear slimmer, more feminine and more graceful. You might want to position your feet a little forward to compositionally balance your image within the frame.

This is a soft and pretty photograph. You may what to try some more directional lighting to better give the illusion of depth within your photograph -- perhaps from the front.

Work on focus and keep trying different backgrounds, lighting and positions. It sounds like a fun self-assignment that you are enjoying. I look forward to seeing more of your portraits.

Thank you for putting your name and the date on the mat where they belong.

Thank you so much for your kind words and input; I am having fun learning however sometimes find it exhausting and frustrating.

To address your comments:

I worked very hard on softening the skin because the lighting gave me a very speckled and unnatural appearance...I hope to one day have a better understanding of lighting since I am finding it to be key in a good quality photograph, especially portraits!

Regarding the light from the front; do you mean from the angle I am facing? I am sitting in front of a window with a mirror propped below it so I could shoot the reflection...could the mirror also be making it harder to focus clearly? How does one smooth skin and speckles caused by improper lighting besides adjustment levels, contrast and gaussein blur? Is there something simpler or more effective?

Thank you for your input and help; it is most appreciated...as are your very kind comments! Good to hear from you! :)

it’s the little things you deliver: here, the toe ring offers the feminine vibe that gets my head spinning – another man bewitching voodoo detail!
