allan kirby 0 Posted December 28, 2009 John, Your subjects are first class, your technique is first class which of course results in first class photos, and that is the problem. I am having great difficulty trying to deconstruct the lighting and techinique. I can see that the light is coming from somewhat above to produce the shadow details on her ribs, yet from the front to produce shadow behind the collar bone, Yet the light is broad enough that it is not so harsh. Are you using a speedlight bounced off a wall? several speedlights? Please give us mortals a hint. Allan Link to comment

John Peri 1,032 Posted December 28, 2009 Thank you friends. No, not studio work. Sometimes, simple things work quite well. The model is sitting on the bedside table of the hotel. I used a flash attached to my camera which as Allan rightly says is bounced off the wall (cupboard) to the right of the subject. This one is taken with my older Nikon D70 and an SB800 flash. PS. I do have some shadow, but mostly to the darker left side of the image and behind ... I also have some flare due to the transparency of the stockings, particularly around the edges of left knee area. sv solomon photography 0 Posted February 5, 2010 I saw the extra images posted below this black and white photo, I had an impression that your model was atop a baby grand piano. Such a classy locale in my mind. Never-the-less, I will keep this vision. I really like this photo. The pose, the mood, the expression, the flow. I have an issue with her left knee though. It seems to be plagued by some flare of some sort. Could it have been your flash angle??? Could it have been the density of the thread count of her hose??? Could it be that her physique radiates and this point just happens to be where there is a high concentration of ions??? It could be that we over analyze the beauty that is before us. I see only a shapely, attractive woman who is depicted very superbly by a photographer who has a habit of capturing the female subject with great respect. This one is an inspiration! Thank you!
