I love this! Superb lighting conditions; and I love how the grasses in the FG are just aglow with light. Personally, I think this would make a terrific black and white photo too. Merry Christmas, and a very Happy New Year to you, my friend! Cheers! Chris

I dont know if it's just me, the noise or artifact or whatever it is is really very distracting. The browns seems awfully cold toned for such a warm photo. Great to see these magnificent animals and shoot them when you get the chance no matter how splendidly the photo comes out but after looking through your other animal shots, I just don't think this one measures up to the rest of your work. I hope you get more chances at capturing these. Keep shooting :)

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. I may try adjusting the colors a bit to see if improvements can be made.

Not sure, but to me the grass in front of the deer is razor sharp, but the deer herself looks a little bit soft. I think your autofocus concentrated on it rather than the deer. The grass is rather brightly lit in front of her face and is kind of distracting.

I removed some of it around the doe's face and vignetted the photo to darken the edges to focus more attention on her. I also selectively bumped up the sharpness on the front half of the doe. What do you think?

In this case, I believe your original is the better rendition. I think she looks better behind the grasses; after all, she is in her habitat. Plus, I think that glowing 'curtain' of grasses in front of her is just fetching as all get out! Deb, you might run this through a noise reduction software. I bet that'd help take care of the graininess/noise. Beautiful shot! Cheers! Chris
