Len, the yolk is screaming at me. I would either crop it out or tone it down. As it is now, it's just so bright that I am distracted from the other shapes and textures.

The purist in me says "That's the way it was; leave it alone!". However, the artist in me agrees with you that the yoke projects far beyond it's importance in the frame. For me, cropping out the yoke is a non-starter since it is so important to the context of it's connection to the buckets so I decided to go with some Photoshop hanky panky, the success of which will be determined by you and subsequent viewers. I wasn't sure of the best way to go about the manipulation but I started out isolating the yoke, adjusting the levels (to unsatisfactory result for me) and finally did a bit of selective cloning. Have a go at this new offering. Many thanks for your input. Looking forward to more interplay in the new year. Happy New Year from 'Up over'. :-) Best, LM.

Thanks Len, that looks much better balanced to me. Reality doesn't always deliver the best result, but I understand entirely. Happy New Year to you from Down Under.

Then it's unanimous; how can one argue when two very distinguished photographers agree that the changes make a superior image? Thanks for your input and have a Happy New Year. Best, LM.

Len, after reading Jeff´s comment I find the yoke distracting... Before, my first reaction was "wow, what stunning color and color contrast". Jeff is right, your second version is definitively better. High quality colors and tones, sharpness and detail. Excellent photo !

I wish you a Happy New Year !

And a Happy New Year to you as well. Hope we have many more communications in 2010. This was north light so the overriding colour is blue, adjusted down a bit in PS. The yellowish buckets seemed appropriate for additional contrast against this blueish toned wood siding. Thanks to Kodak for a free roll of E100GX. Guess it's time I bought a roll and tried this again. Best, LM.

I find the image perfect as it is and would not change a thing in it. Thanks for sharing - Leo

Thanks for the validation.  You had to dig deep into my portfolio to get to this one & I appreciate that.   Good of you to stop by.  Don't be a stranger.  Best, LM.

I thought I'd put this in my favourites folder a long time ago - well, now it is.  One of the photos I'm always returning to.

Many thanks for your thoughts.  I recognize that you are no stranger to high quality images so with this comment you've made my day. It's an honour to be included among your favourites.  Best, LM.

Thanks for going the extra mile on this offering.  Your colour balanced variation is in fact truer to what the eye actually saw.  The bluishness was due to the open sky light and a film which was very responsive to that colour.  Best, LM.

I get that with Digital sometimes and then I have an artistic decision to make to leave it with the blue or color correct it.

All the very best,
