Very interesting capture. I think it might work better if you cropped off the big red band at the top. I find this is almost two photos in one. One is a nice pattern of the tide and the birds and the color. And the other is a red reflective abstract. My eye doesn't know where to go. I don't think the two parts go together well. But I really like the pattern and color on the bottom.

I really like the composition, but the colors of this photo seem to be a little bit odd (on my screen). The upper part of the water looks pink/purple. Is that your intention?

dear pim. those are the natural colours of this lagoon,. try to find "laguna colorada bolivia" in google image and you can check it .

as pointed out, the water of this lagoon is rich on microalgae Dunaliella sp, witth high content on betha-carotene, a reddish pigment. This is because flamingos are there and this is because flamingos are pink.

I do not understand why this image has been rated so low. I find it to be very interesting and unique. My only critique would be to crop the image a bit to keep the eye focused on the curve through the middle. Thanks for explaining the water color.

¡Vaya "flamencada" ávida nutriéndose!. No leventan cabeza. Bonita composición. Qué bien has conseguido distribuír las tonalidades de los colores: oscuros al fondo, yendo aclarándose hasta adelante. Buenos en encuadre y el enfoque. Besos, hijo.

I will agree with Amitai that some of the top can be cropped out without hurting the image but improving upon it. You have a strong lens here, were you shooting at the full 400mm or less? I only ask this because I would love to be able to see more definition in the flamingos. A nice shot but I find myself wanting to see more from here. I'll search your portfolio to see if you have other shots.
