jschultis 0 Posted March 19, 2010 Beautifully done. Love the white falls against the dark foliage. Link to comment
jgalyon 0 Posted March 19, 2010 thanks guys! i've probably posted the following story on other Twin Falls shots...but I don't mind sharing it again. the waterfall in this shot is actually one waterfall in a series of waterfalls along a ridgeline that runs for several hundred yards. there are two rivers in the area that run parallell to one another...with one being at an elevation about 300 feet above the other. the upper river was dammed several years ago, and after over twenty years...the water from the lake that was formed began to filter through limestone caves in the ridge ...and suddenly, waterfalls began to spring out of the side of the ridge...and into the lower stream. attempts were made to stop the flow by filling the caves with concrete. but...all that happened was that the water began to spring out of other locations on the ridge, so they finally gave up! the lower river is now one of the best whitewater areas in the country and the training ground for the U.S. Freestyle Kayak Team. it's a beautiful area that, hard as it is for me to believe ...lot's of people with a 75 mile distance or so, don't even know about. so there ya have it...a bit of history behind the photograph. regards, john Link to comment
dbasinger 0 Posted March 19, 2010 Thank you for the story of the falls. I don't think we will bring our kayaks to your river though. Wonderful picture. Take care, Deanna Link to comment
