dianedh 7 Posted December 21, 2009 This is another "first shot" with my new camera! I'm working on learning the focus points and in this shot I was trying for the middle of the three berries. How did I do? I'd appreciate thoughts, suggestions and comments. I'm using a Sony 18-200 zoom and I added a +2 closeup filter - handheld. Thanks for looking. Diane Link to comment
lamarh 0 Posted December 21, 2009 I think this whole picture is very catchy. Nice focus on the parts that are interesting and like the background. Link to comment
Tom Wiggins Photography 0 Posted December 21, 2009 Diane: I like the photo, but I think if you shot is using aperture priority to make sure the berries are in focus it and shift the berries to the right, using the rule of thirds, it would improve the image. Tom Link to comment
mbh 0 Posted December 21, 2009 It's a good shot with a new camera. I love the subject, the ice covered berries. To my eye, and my eye's are a little fuzzy at best, it looks like your primary and sharpest point of focus was the low hanging ice drop. The berries aren't bad but you didn't quite nail it. On the other hand, I love the beautiful blur of the background, I like the composition. And it's still winter and you still have a new camera. I will definitely enjoy following your future efforts. New cameras are so much fun. Link to comment
dianedh 7 Posted December 22, 2009 Mark, Tom and LaMar.. Thanks guys for looking and for the suggestions. I have to agree that the icicle is sharper. The focus points kept moving and the autofocus kept shifting from the berries I was trying to capture to the branch right behind..... Finally just pushed the button! And yes - new cameras ARE fun!!
