alfbailey 2 Posted December 20, 2009 Not Really Hades Landing, it's the ferry landing at Ullswater, but in the spooky silence I could imagine the boat with deaths figure appearing from the mst and so wrote......... "With fearful eyes I watch the mist that rises from that deep abyss then walk these boards towards my fate and ponder why deaths boat is late no people here, not one soul standing I wait alone on Hades Landing Link to comment

blue-olympus 0 Posted December 20, 2009 Interesting dialogue to go with this dramatic shot. Your p/p work certainly enhances the whole scene with bold, strong imaginative colours...Great contribution....May I wish you and your family a Happy Xmas and an even Happier New Year...Kind Regards Keith Link to comment
normanjnorman 0 Posted December 20, 2009 but i really like the framing on the other photographer better. Have you got the same but without him on the jetty. i think you could sell that in Ullswater. or one with figures that look like normal people not blooming photographers getting in the way:-) N Link to comment
papasan 0 Posted December 20, 2009 Very nice dramatic scene Alf. I like the high contrast and the composition. Very interesting accompanying story too. Regards - michel Link to comment
JimCowan 0 Posted December 21, 2009 I'm not sure that I like your imagery (as in descriptive language) but I very much like your image. It is warm without being hot, cool without being cold and inviting as apposed to threatening. Simply beautiful! Jim Link to comment

jacqui1 0 Posted December 21, 2009 Alf I absolutely love the picture, the title and the poem.........it is a spooky/mythical looking picture.... The poem fits the picture perfectly...but then it would..... and the title is very apt..... Hades....The unseen.... "There is no queue, no people standing"... considering Hades and his brothers defeated the titans and became rulers of the underworld and sea......Hades landing.....the pier reaching out to the sea...the underworld.....I can imagine Hades rising from the sea and landing on the pier....just perfect Alf......you are not only a photographic genius you're a literary one too. I am a keen and regular visitor to your porfolio and I have to say its brimming with superbly composed shots, you clearly have an eye and talent for capturing excellent shots....congrats Alf and keep them coming Warmest regards Jacqueline Link to comment

alfbailey 2 Posted December 22, 2009 Wow! Thank you All So Much! BOB Thanks for looking in! PATSY THank You! Always a pleasure to hear from you! I hope you are well, and that you and your familly enjoy the holidays and have a great new year! KEITH Thank you Keith, I really appreciate your comments The dialogue is a poem relating to HADES (the mythological greek god of death and the dead) but didn't really come out formatted as I'd hoped, probably mostly due to my poor punctuation, so I'll try again here: - "With fearful eyes I watch the mist, that rises from that deep abyss then walk these boards towards my fate, and ponder why deaths boat is late, there is no queue, not one soul standing........ I wait alone on Hades Landing" You & Yours have a great Xmas Keith and a peaceful new year. NORMAN Thank you for looking in Norman, Yeah I have several of that scene without "other photographers" ......You can't be inferring that Photographers aren't "normal people" are you Norman? .......How very very dare you!! ha ha ha! Have a great Xmas Norm MICHEL I'm really pleased you liked it Michel, thank you for looking in and commenting. JIM I understand Jim the verse could be construed as a bit macabre or sinister, but I should have explained better that it related to greek mythology, I'm really pleased you liked the image though and thank you sincerely for your support and encouragement. ALBERTO Thank you! I really appreciate your visit and very kind comments MEHMET Thank you for your support, and your very encouraging comments DIEGO Thank you for looking in and taking time to comment, I really appreciate it! GALLEGO Many Thanks and seasons greetings to you & yours JACQUELINE Thank you so much for your support and very kind comments, you nailed it spot on with your reference to the Titans etc. but as for genius ........I'm far from that, though there are some on photo.net that may fall into that category that I hope to continue to learn from. A Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours Jacqueline! FALAK Thank you for your visit and for you very kind comments, much appreciated! ILKKA Thank you for looking in and taking time to comment, much appreciated! BECK Thank you for looking in and commenting, I really appreciate it! Guest Guest Posted December 22, 2009 This is absolutely true photographic art from you. Amazing capture and a splendid p/p work making this scene the perfect photo to go along with the poem about Hades. The dark vivid colors and the sunset deep back at the mountains makes it really stand out. I think good old mr J.R.R. Tolkien would have loved it as it could perfectly well be the dark mountains of Mordor in the background. You never stop surprizing us with your images and your knowledge. Take good care Alf and all the best to you and your family. Enjoy the X-mas and New Year. Your friend Jannica Link to comment
t37traveler 0 Posted December 23, 2009 This is a great use of perspective to literally suck the viewer into the depths of the picture. I like the almost mono-chromatic color palette. For me, the lateral lines and splotchy appearance of the wet dock planking slow the dramatic visual plunge and create a visual bond between the dock and the water. The background haze, which is the only soft element of the photo, adds a nice contrast. very well done!! Link to comment
