wingell 0 Posted December 18, 2009 Here's the crew that put a new roof on our 1924 Sears catalog "craftsman" cottage in upstate New York. After taking off two layers of asphalt shingles and another two layers of cedar shakes (a big surprise to the roofers--the weight on that roof was astounding), the guys said the rafters were still as straight as the day they were unloaded from a railroad boxcar 85 years ago. Apparently, Sears mail-order homes were made well. Link to comment
