Guest Guest Posted December 14, 2009 Francois, She is a beautiful girl. You have focused very well on her eyes. She has very good catch lights. I like her rather inquisitive looking expression -- perhaps unsure looking? She has very good skin tone and the lighting is very nice. The background is nicely neutral. She is somewhat separated from the background with a background light and rim light on her left side. With her white garment, I think a dim hair light might have worked well to better separate her hair from the background. What you have done works, though. She has a very nice trim figure but, I would have preferred her not posed straight on to the camera. This is not a very feminine pose. Showing your subject’s widest areas (shoulder to shoulder or hip to hip) makes those areas appear wide. Your subject will appear thinner, more feminine and more graceful if turned at an angle to the camera. The lines you see from an angle have more apparent motion, interest and grace. I would crop some off the left side or more her a bit to her right. You want to compositionally balance the left and right sides of the photograph. The compositional "rule" for this suggests that you position the tip of the subject's nose in the vertical center of the photograph. It is good to have her looking into the picture, rather than out of it, but not quite that much. Right now your photograph is a little right heavy. I think the pose of her right hand is very good, but I would have liked the sides (edges) of her hands showing more. Just like turning her body at an angle to the camera, Hands turned to their sides look slim, feminine and graceful. I think I would have toned down the highlights on her right wrist. They draw attention to her wrist and makes it look large to me. For the basically subdued tones of this photograph, I find the red of her lips to be a little stark. My eyes keep going to her lips -- away from the rest of her face. A little paler shade of red would have worked better for me. Nice shot, Mark Link to comment
francois_benveniste1 0 Posted December 14, 2009 Thanks Mark for the kind comments and suggestions; Everything you say make sense. But I wouldn't change a thing with regards to the lips color. They are the "punctum" of this image. Link to comment
