gsphotoguy 2 Posted December 5, 2009 For an assignment in a class I recently finished I photographed Cayla in a private session. We did a series of lightpainting images. This one happened to be the instructor's favorite. Link to comment
tfactory 1 Posted December 6, 2009 I would only point out that the photo is a tad grainy, Also on the arm it is a bit overexposed. The top left shoulder is too dark. Overall the photo is ok. I would suggest that if you hace access to photo shop you process those areas by lightening and darkening. With a bit of processing you would have a more detailed photo. I'm not sure about the grainy look, but besure that your ISO on your camera is set lower to 100 or 200. Hope you don't take my comments as too harsh. I find it hard sometimes to put into written words my feedback. Good job, keep at it. g Link to comment
gsphotoguy 2 Posted December 6, 2009 Ernest, Thanks. George, Thank you for all the thought you have given this image. I do have to point out a couple of things. I shoot film, TMAX 400 in this case. I scan the negatives for posting here but prints made from these show much less grain effect. The lighting is light painting. If you are not familiar with the technique, we worked in a dark room, opened the shutter and exposed Cayla with a small flashlight. The light is moved over the model creating odd light and shadows. Much of what you point out is, in fact, on purpose or a happy accident. You also get some softness due to slight motion of the subject during the exposure. -Mark Link to comment
esfishdoc 0 Posted December 6, 2009 I take notice for several reasons. In a sea of nudes it stands out because of the graininess. It makes me think of the days of Tri X and pre anorectic models. Nicely done. Yes, the arm has some blown out areas. Link to comment
JPPhoto1664880217 2 Posted December 6, 2009 Nice image. I particulalrly like how the shadows are distinct, but the skin is smooth. My compliments to you both. Jim Phelps Link to comment
