cabelnoteboom.com 0 Posted October 9, 2002 This is an amazing picture and I do like the clouds but IMO it might be even better if we could see the peaks of the mountains. BTW your single pictures folder is contains some of the best images I have ever seen. Thanks Link to comment
fred_j._lord 0 Posted October 14, 2002 Dennis: This is a very fine image. I imagine the weather is like this or worse most of the time. We spent three days there in July, 1999 and only lost one day to weather. We felt lucky. When we took the bus in to the mountain it was amazingly clear and we saw it perfectly. I have to dig out the shots from that one. I wouldn't change anything in this image. Link to comment
b.voisin 0 Posted October 18, 2002 Very nice picture, i would prefer it without the dark trees on the right foreground. There is a dark stripe on the right (due to assembly?) and the jpg compression is a bit high... I am sure that the original picture and the land are fantastic. I enjoy it. (I apogise for my english) best regards, Bertrand. Link to comment
dennismk 0 Posted October 19, 2002 That dark strip is there all right I got a little carried away when burning in the edges. I made sure it was not as strong on the print. I was amazed how good the print came out. It is about 10" high by 42" long on epsons luster paper printed on the new 2200. The mts. in the middle of the image are very sharp and crisp. The whole shot is except for the forground on the left lower area which was just out of the lenes DOF and so is a little soft. And the Nikon VR lens worked very well. The conditions were changing very fast and the light. While driving I looked to rear left and saw the scene, jamed on the brakes turned off the engine and shot the pan leaning against the truck in a eight shot verical pan. There was no time to set up my tripod and all that. Which I always did before I just got this VR lens. I shoot alot in the summer from a small boat and this lens will help a lot. And that 2200 Epson is a major jump from my 1270 which died Aug 15th 2002 after much faithfull service. Link to comment
Palouse 6 Posted October 20, 2002 Very dramatic. The range of color in the sky and the foreground adds to the tense feeling that something is about to happen-something big! Link to comment
christian_holst1 0 Posted October 20, 2002 Wonderful panoramic landscape. I would have choosen to include some more "foreground" Link to comment
dennismk 0 Posted October 24, 2002 I to wish there had been some foreground interestas well But The DOF on the VR lens is only 7feet. And like I said I was shooting from the road quickly. The print is more vibrant in the color of the tundra which supplies enough forground intrest because of its intense color and how the light was hitting it. Of course one could always add a herd of Caribou in midistance and a Grizzly Bear feeding on berries in the forground With a float plane flying up in the clouds. Then super impose an Eskimo face with hooded fur ruff. In a montage style. And I would make a million selling it to tourists and the 70% of Alaskan's with such taste. ;-) Oh is there a hole I can get sick in? Link to comment
