I wish my HDR attempts turned out this good. How many exposures and at what values? Also, proof that location and timing are everything! ---Scott

Another beautiful composition Zsolt! Love the mist shrouded peak at back, and the soft diffused light.

All the best,

Neil

thank you very much for your comments!

Scott: like you said, location and timing means very much, maybe everything. i answer gladly to your technical details but i dont think these things means very much, rather the light.

i used 3 exposures here: normal, +2, and for the sky -2 was not enough, so i used something more in manual mode, i dont know exactly how many stops. these 3 exposures blended in Photomatix. the location: Fagaras mountains, Romania, september 2009.

Interesting composition on this one, Zsolt. I like the sense of space and dynamics that is achieved by an almost-close-up foreground and an epic background. Light and colors are excellent adding a strong mountain morning atmosphere. Just beware the thin cyan fringe on the edge of the mountain and the sky - don't know what it is but should be easy to remove.

you have right about the cyan fringe, it is the biggest disadvantage of the Photomatix hdr program, it exaggerates the lens chromatic aberrations. i will try to remove it, it is not so easy because the final hdr image is not like raws, and in Photoshop by removing the fringe you lose sharpness and image become soft.

This is really wonderful HDR image and it is exactly what I personally like. Sometime HDR images are so over processed but this is just perfect and it deserves highest rating in my opinion, unfortunately it is not possible for me so please translate my rating to 7/7.

Excellent work, perfect composition, beautiful light and outstanding processing!

Congratulations and best regards
