mac_alain 0 Posted September 26, 2002 ...and nicely framed. Wistful. Actual quality could be better though, Link to comment
mark_johnson12 0 Posted October 10, 2002 Great shot. I love the way they are paying no attention to her. "Kids these days..." Link to comment
maria_s. 1 Posted October 16, 2002 Right moment, great characters and composition. It not the best quality but I guess you had no time for this -- did you zoom this? Where did you stand? Across the street or was it a plaza? Nobody there is looking at your camera -- are you invisible? Terrific job. BTW -- Are you sure that the bag next to your babushka did not contain beer she just sold to the youngsters? Link to comment
anna_orman 0 Posted October 22, 2002 This is a truly wonderful picture... I can see how you used your political science studies as an influence in the content of this great picture. Link to comment
slava1 0 Posted October 22, 2002 Interesting photograph. Obviously, she is waiting for the empty bottles. Sad. Link to comment
jimmcnitt 0 Posted February 4, 2003 This is a gem. And I almost missed it because the thumbnail is so small. My take was that this old Babushuka is simply invisible to the younger generation -- separated by a gulf of time symbolized by the space between her and the students. But sadly, Iaroslava is absolutely correct. Not only is the Babushka waiting for the bottles -- she looks as she's determined that no one else will get them first. You've got a great eye, Elaine. P.S. It's been many years since I read "The Magus" -- but I still can almost feel the blazing Agean sun and a steady drumbeat of mounting apprehension. Link to comment
ivophoto 0 Posted July 12, 2003 This is all about photography!! Great picture, huge human contrast. The old woman looks from a distance, a bit with disapproval? The youngsters don't care and look away. Link to comment
elaine_roberts1 0 Posted February 4, 2005 Interested in your thoughts on this photo. What do you see in it? Link to comment
hmausolf 0 Posted February 4, 2005 Yes, a beautiful picture. Looks a bit as if the Babooshka didn't pay her gravity bill :-). Regards, Heiko Link to comment
andrewpgrant 0 Posted February 4, 2005 Great moment captured here - good social commentary. I like your cropping here - it really keeps you with the subjects and compliments the nature of the wall. Link to comment
orensztajn 0 Posted April 13, 2006 As many others said, trully amazing documentary feeling. I just wonder why you cropped so much at the top? Or it is like this a pano? Very nice anyhow. Link to comment
elaine_roberts1 0 Posted May 7, 2006 Thanks for the comments -- This is actually cropped very little; it is a digitally stitched shot of two photos taken one after the other. Link to comment
janc 0 Posted January 4, 2008 Hi Elaine! Great shot! It is like a film with only one frame :-) Characters are clear and strong. Nice composed. I like it a lot. Best regards. Link to comment
