timzeipekis 5 Posted December 3, 2009 I absolutely love the lower half of the image, not so much the upper half. Perhaps a tighter crop? Link to comment
thadley 10 Posted December 4, 2009 Lovely location and photo op - not sure if the top half adds value - just my two cents. Link to comment
wolfgangarnold 142 Posted December 5, 2009 interesting comments, because I chose this crop on purpose: I wanted to underline the grasping 'movement' of the withered piece of wood. Seems, that didn't succeed... So, many thanks for commenting - I've learned something.cheers,Wolfgang Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted December 11, 2009 I like the blue light offsetting the very alive green. I also like the details in the ground. Like you, I appreciate the composition. I think it provides a sculptural feel to the tree bark and I do find it uplifting in spirit. My first thought was that the blur toward the top was distracting. It seemed, for me, to be getting in the way of something. I have a feeling that if you had kept full focus throughout the main subject, the composition would work better. You managed some very sensual curves here. Link to comment
wolfgangarnold 142 Posted December 12, 2009 many thanks - again for an encouraging comment and a good suggestion. I see your point. Unfortunately, this time I cannot easily correct it (too blurry for any sensible retroactive sharpening). When taking the picture, I intentionally chose f4 for blurring background and keeping attention on the sapling - yet, I see that a sharper top would have suited better.Best regards,Wolfgang Link to comment
