The Monastery of San Beturián or Victorián is one of theoldest in Spain. The limestock rock faces of the Peña Montañesa protect this monastery which was the cultural andthe spiritual centre of Sobrarbe for a millenium. From the VIthcentury, founded by San Victorián de Asan.

San Victorián settled for a time in France before founding themonastery (now Saint Victorian). The monastery was restored by SanchoIII el Mayor (XIth century). It knew a long period of great importanceboth in ecclesiastical and in political ways. The confiscation ofMendizábal, in 1835 was its finishing nail. Today it is a pileof ruins in a beautiful landscape. It seems that the Government ofAragon wants to recover it.
