A beautiful scenic, & successfully executed in all aspects exp/comp/colour/.

Could this be improved by cropping out a lot of the sky? Any other

suggestions/critiques welcome. Also your rating (just out of

interest).

Nice!

No, I wouldn't crop the sky, but I would be tempted to lose the cliff edge at bottom, as the shot already has plenty of depth.

The sky looks fine to me. I think this is a very good shot. I like the composition and the colors.

A great shot with good color values. The top half of the picture draws me straight in. I actually think the sky is fine, but would think about cropping the bottom half, which is a little distracting.

As far as the composition goes, I like this shot. The lines in the sand for an example.

However, the overall picture quality just doesn't cut it IMHO. The grain is horrible and it lacks in sharpness.

I only wish you would have invested in some high quality slide film and this one could have been a really great shot.

Excellent composition and exposure. I particularly like seeing the green to blue transition and the almost mirrored image of the clouds from the spires.

But, I would prolly lose the foreground cliff and maybe even go for a completely square format. Even without that, it's a great picture and I want to dive on in.

Brian, I'm a little bit late to this party but nonetheless offer my opinion. I've seen many great shots on PN of this location & as a result think that this one falls down in a few areas. The lighting is excellent but the use of the 24mm tends to minimize your subject, the Twelve Apostles. If this was my one & only chance to photograph here I'd try a mixed bag of focal lengths & bet a 50mm normal would be the winner. Perhaps the film was too contrasty (though you have good shadow detail, perhaps due to the light reflecting off the beach) as evidenced by the lack of detail in the highlights (surf). As someone else mentioned, probably due to a poor scan, it's awfully grainy, especially in the sky area. Unusual for a 100 ISO film unless it was underexposed. A worthwhile addition to your travel album but not a candidate for competition entry. Best, LM.

Thanks Len, very perceptive critique. The scan is from a print so is not best quality. (I don't know about you, but I don't put my best stuff up on p.net.) I thought the beach and sky textures were interesting so I posted it to get some feedback on composition. A pic taken from the same point on the same day using a 100mm lens has done well in competition.

Its your composition that makes this work for me.No point in commenting on grain etc as I can see its a scan.

This is a delight, and all comes together really nicely.!
