patburns 0 Posted November 28, 2009 One of the wonderful array of Street artists you meet on this famous street. All comments on this or any image very welcome, indeed encouraged! Thanks for looking. Link to comment
3m 0 Posted November 29, 2009 Pat, My eye caught your photo just now & I actually very much like the mood that goes out from this! I think that your B&W tones are beautifully done too! But ( if I may - & imho - from my own pers. composition point of view :) I see that your focus point is put on what's happening slightly behind your central figure ( who isn't in focus).... You could possibly have done this differently by putting that person off center & cropping away what's on the R (for me), but then you would loose what's happening there & that's a real pitty I think. Or, your focus point should have been on that person, with the dof on what's happening behind.... (It's just how my eyes go 'into your photo', if you know what I mean...) Anyway, these are my thoughts on your photo, which again, I really do find very interesting! Kind regards, Marjolein Link to comment
patburns 0 Posted November 29, 2009 Thanks Majorlein, for taking the time to comment on this image. It was taken very quickly as I walked up the street. The central figure, is indeed slightly out of focus, this was a mistake. I really intended for the image to be sharp throughout. However for me there is a sad almost etheral quality to her which is a little at odds with the busy, party atmosphere and character of La Rambla, and it is this quality which makes the image interesting for me. Does it work, or does the lack of sharpness of the main character take away from it? It probably does! but I still like it. Thanks again. Pat Link to comment
3m 0 Posted November 30, 2009 Pat, I think that one of the beauties of photography is that one image can be interpreted and can 'talk' in many different ways, to different sets of people. It never seems to move people the exact same way.I can see your point of view clearly too and if you go that way, Then, yes, maybe the fact that this person is out of focus, especially with her sad expression is able to dominate the photo in it's whole this way. You obviously were there and therefore you 'own' this very striking moment, and you also have a special affiliation with it.... Again, I think it's really a nice picture that has a special mood to it! ( no matter how you're looking at it :-) Link to comment
andrea-de-bonis 6 Posted November 30, 2009 "It was taken very quickly as I walked up the street", you wrote. and yes, this the caracterisc of the best streets... catch a moment. once photographers had the camera setted at f8/125, hoping it was correct, becouse never there is the time to choose.... and yes, a little backfocus, a time not enough fast.ok. But this is a photo, for the simple reasons that here you arrived in shooting a portarit in a street, full of emotions. As all the photos that make us fell in love with photographie do Link to comment
