I know already this will not be a popular image with most fellow PNers

but I am drawn to these type of images. In addition to the "grand"

landscape, my buddy Chris Harris and I also scan for these type

intimate or micro landscapes which at times can be very abstract. This

one caught my eye immediately and I took several images at varying

distances of which this was my closest approach. In the late light it

appears both soft and wonderfully abstract with the sunlit portion

being the central focus. I added just enough contrast to get more

separation in the back waves but not so much as to destroy it's soft

monotone quality. I am very pleased with this image and its quality of

light but alas I may be alone. What do you think?

Leo, I like this very much. Like you, I am drawn to 'intimate' landscapes. There are many good things bout sharing on photo.net but one of the bad things is that inevitably the images we are sometimes a lot like images others make. Before all this on-line sharing, images could only be seen alongside others presented by their maker, be it in private showing, gallery or book. In those cases the selection would be limited and you would not get so much of that - old hat, seen it before feeling. Which may partly account for all the 3s we get now on in photo.net. Each image should be viewed on its own merits, without reference to the ones the critiquer looked at a minute ago, or a day ago, or a week ago ... Times have changed as has the number of people taking photographs! Regards Adrienne

Leo, regardless of what others may think I believe you were right to post this and on it own merits. Personally I think it rocks. Light, shadows, textures and all in one micro landscape. The lighting reflects that wonderful light we get in the desert around sunset. Soft golden light that seems to lighten up the harsh reality that is the desert. Excellent work Leo, most excellent!...Lefty

It's hard to see why you would need to be defensive-it's a great image. There is a nice sense of movement in the image. The lighting is subtle and elegant.

Leo, I really like this. I love how the tones are subtle and how the light is used. I love how you captured the swirls and dips. I feel as if you were hovering in mid air to shoot this angle.

I would think, people would like this Leo, the composition is excellent. More softer lighting and darker shadows might make it better, but i don't think the composition could be improved. Very well spotted.

Cheers, Dave.

It is a winner for me! I love the overall quality of light here, and the textures are sublime. A very compelling little intimate landscape. Good eye, and superb post-processing. Cheers! Chris
