erik_sven 0 Posted November 29, 2009 Hello Richard, Dunes can offer interesting photo opportunities and you've got an interesting element here with the piece of wood, but in my opinion, this photo does not exploit that potential. Composition, though respecting some general photographic rules, does not really render the place in a "transcending way", I mean: these are dunes such as we all know them, but we do not discover them in a way we had not yet thought of (I admit that this is easier said than done!). As to the colours, they look too bright to me and the blue of the sky looks a little odd. I don't know what your settings were, but personally, I think I would have have underexposed "in camera" + (if still necessary) have enhanced the dark tones and softened the bright tones by postprocessing, in order to give the colours a more natural touch and some more intensity. Starting from this photo such as you took it, a black & white conversion could be interesting as well, in order to solve the sky colour issue and to transform the photo in a kind of "still life". Of course, this is only my personal opinion. Do feel free to (dis)agree. ;o) Kind regards, Erik Link to comment
