carsten_ranke 0 Posted November 23, 2009 Exquisite, yes. The fog acts as kind of ND filter for the sunlit Mt Rainier, perfect exposure and composition. Nothing to improve, IMO Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted November 23, 2009 I am with Carsten on this image; I don't think you could (or, should) do a thing to improve this. It is sublime! That little hint of pinkish glow on the top of Rainier is sweet! Well done! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
PeterKrenek 26 Posted November 23, 2009 I can imagine that you got up early to get there, compose well and wait for the light. But how did you manage to have the mist where it looks best ? :-) Like it very much, too. Indeed, nothing to improve. I can imagine a bit more saturated version (attached), but that is just a matter of personal taste. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted November 23, 2009 Steve, this is superb. I wouldn't touch a thing. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted November 23, 2009 Thanks for the encouraging comments. This location was (prior to my move) exactly two hours from my house, so I always knew right when to leave. I have some shots where the trees were partly obscured by the rising fog, but then the mountain was even more obscured; I chose this as the best representation. Peter, I like your suggested edits -- still looks completely natural to my eye. Link to comment

katzpjs 50 Posted November 28, 2009 I am in awe... I sat for minutes just enjoying the larger view of this and I could not think of anything to say to you about it. Only that it is very beautiful. Link to comment

rekaras 0 Posted November 29, 2009 You get a wow from me on this one. Great location, been there once before leaving for Viet Nam. Beautiful shot, maybe crop a bit off bottom may enhance adding more impact to the mists and mountain? Just a thought, great image either way, congrats rek. Link to comment
dirk_juergensen 0 Posted November 29, 2009 This is the photo I'm dreaming of doing it by myself. Excellent! Link to comment
todd_mcdonald 0 Posted November 29, 2009 Dreamy, beautiful light. Meticulous comp. You were up before dawn to capture this, weren't you? Congrats! Link to comment
stp 6 Posted November 30, 2009 Thanks again for the comments. Yes, definitely up before dawn. It's exactly two hours from my former residence in Olympia, and I always wanted to be there well before dawn. To the east (to the right in this photo that is looking northwest) the rising sun might hit the fog and provide some spectacular light at the end of the lake, and I was fortunate to catch that a couple of times. A given place is never the same on each successive visit if you have a camera in hand. Link to comment
David-Wisse 5 Posted November 30, 2009 Excellent landscape - perfectly exposed. The touch of light on the mountain top is the icing on the cake (pun intended!). Regards, David Link to comment
