Comments, ratings, suggestions appreciated on this waterfall. I live

only about 10 miles away, and will probably try reshooting it soon.

Does anyone know the best time to shoot a waterfall? The fall face

north--so they never receive any direct light. The area is heavily

treed, hence the falls are almost always in shadow. Thanks.

Mmm... the usual advice. ;~) Frame lower to get all of the reflection. Frame a little farther to the left to emphasize the fall's shape. This might take moving the camera up and right; it's been a year since I was there, but I think such placement is possible. If not, it should be possible to get much the same thing using movements on the 8x10.

Nice B&W work. I like the patience you have shown by getting the refelction in the shot as well. The cotrast of the shot has been very well handled however is also the area that may be looked at for improvement.

This is a beautiful photo, and it presents the subject very well. Not much I can add to previous comments -- and I agree that bottom is cropped a bit short.

Your photograph actually spurred me to sign up, just in order to comment! Your entire gallery is amazing. I wish I lived around something like this!

This photo might benefit from toning - the black and white tones are lovely, but perhaps some subtle colour (or perhaps two? I've seen this done before but can't recall which two toners I liked... blue and gold, perhaps?) would give it that extra "oomph". I also agree that the whole reflection should be visible, next time.

Jessica,

Thanks very much for your comments on my photos. The waterfall was taken about two years ago, when I was just really getting interested in photography. Yes, I definitely agree about the reflection and the toning--I tone most of my serious photos in the wet darkroom, usually with selinium, occasionally copper or gold. Thanks again for your comments. If you post some photos, please let me know so I can review them.
