GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted November 24, 2009 Magical time of day.......in an unimaginable place.....yet among these ruins, a little boy sits enjoying a 'treat' while one of his favorite toys 'stands guard' beside him. I am fascinated.....these images deserve much more than my 'humble 6's....but I am sure I am at my limit....besides....you know the true 'worth' of these shots Alec'. These images belong in so many other places besides here....especially this shot...it is a piece of our time...from another time. Congratulations on your keen eye and sense of history. Sincerely, Gail Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted November 27, 2009 Gail, you have a sharp eye yourself to know there is a home made toy just by the right side of that cute Cambodian boy. He seem so nonchalant amongst the ancient surrounding. I come to my senses only when he approach me with a sad whimper. "Please sir, buy my post cards, only one dollar", after which many other kids started to come out of the temple crowding me with the same words........... A pity, they should be in school. GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted December 2, 2009 Oh Alec...I had hoped he was one of the 'fortunates'......my heart cries out daily for the 'multitudes' all over the world..just like this little boy. Whenever I have travelled (not a lot).........but at 19 when I travelled to Paris/Rome with work, it amazed me to see toddlers...in Vatican City...begging for money....and there was even one small child selling pornographic magazines........I was so shocked, in this city in particular. Then when I had my first holiday (1st marriage) we went to a Clud Med in Punta Cana....travelled to Santo Domingo.....amongst the soldiers bearing guns...there was 'toddlers' begging in the streets also......it is a part of life I rarely see. Even when my son's band opened at a popular (pivot point) for bands in Toronto (The Horseshoe) last Nov., I had seen derilicts on the streets even as a teenager, but it was the very first time I'd seen a 'homeless person' lying asleep on the sidewalk over a 'grate' where warm steam escaped from underneath....his 'home'..just steps away from all the traffic. It actually kinda of shook me up...I'd seen them so often on the news...but not in real life. Although these children only 'know what they know'.......I can't help but think what must go through their minds......and 'how safe' are they really.....waundering the tourist spots in these places. You must see so much of this on your travels, and while one must 'keep perspective'.........I can tell your heart 'wept' for him. thankyou for that 'comment'.........it answered questions that went through my head, re his actual 'presence'. Although he added a very special aspect to that shot! ..............respectfully, Gail Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted December 2, 2009 Yes Gail, there's poverty everywhere even in European countries. I was quite shock some 30 years ago to see mother and child begging in the cold freezing streets in Dublin at night when the cops left their posts. In Asia, we always thought during that time that Caucasians were all rich. Now it seems with the Global economic recession things will fall apart again. Hopefully the 2012 prophesy will not come true. Link to comment
