Bemis Gorge

harrylichtman

Equally enjoyable in the summer months as a swimming hole. I crawled around the rocks carved by water and time, looking for interesting composiotns. The rain helped saturate the foliage, and improved the flow of the water below, which is often much lower. 2 exposures were needed to capture the deep shadows and evergreens, as well as the much brighter grey skies above. Since the sky did have some interesting detail, I opted to include some.

Swimming hole in summer, photo location in autumn. New Hampshire's

White Mountains. Your impressions welcome. Too much sky?

Thanks, Harry

AS not much of a 'near/far' person, I would say the sky looks good to me but Imight think of cropping a little of the FG. Either way you've got a lovely image. The water is just right and it leads the eye perfectly.

Looks just fine to me - in fact the sky is an upside down triangle which balances with the lower left nicely textured rocks. Since the main attraction me is the rocks, their textures and the water I could see a 2nd image that is square where you drop equidistant portions of the top and bottom. This 2nd image would still contain elements of fall both in the upper and lower portions of the image but focus on the things that appeal to me. The original image as displayed is consistent with your high standards and aesthetically appealing.
