A very original composition of something that has otherwise been photographed a gazillion times. However, it was the square thumbnail in the newsletter that really caught my attention, and in my opinion that would be an even stronger composition. Just try and crop the right side to make the picture square and see how you like it.

Thanks Oliver! Glad to hear your input. Personally, I like the symetrical presentation better though. I probably should have cropped a bit of the left out right to where the white marble fence is.

Congratulations anh T mj on your beautiful Temple Of Heaven, Bejing image which was chosen as the Editors' Pick. I heard about this great news through anh PT. Otherwise, I wouldn't have known since I haven't been follow up for a great while now. Congratulations!

A really good one. I have been there and I couldn't take a photo nearly as good as yours. The fisheye perspective really makes this one. HDR is good and fitting albeit it is a bit too obvious for my personal taste. I disagree withOliver Racz about cropping. I too like symmetry which is important at architectural photos like this. I concur with you about the dark background at the left side. Maybe it should be cropped. Anyways  this is a very good photo. Congratulations.

Thanks Kaya! The problem with shooting anything in China is 'how to cut out ' the visiting population :-). I found that with wide angle or super wide angle lens I can trim some or most of the people out by standing real close to the subject. On this shot, I got lucky since they are fixing the area and because of that it's a bit deserted and the 15mm fisheye is the only widest lens I had at the time. I recently got a 12-24mm Sigma for my next China trip ... happy shooting!
