stemked 4 Posted November 11, 2009 I haven't done a lot of still life images myself (I shoot mostly nature) but have started to think about images derived from my large shell collection. I am going to work on abstracts from these specimens and would appreciate any constructive feedback that you can pass along, especially since this is a new direction for me to move my photography into. rebekah1 0 Posted November 16, 2009 So excited to find a shell expert on PN. I have been collecting shells for a long time. Most of them were found on the beaches of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and the West Coast of Florida. My brother also gave me some shells from his world travels. I blieve the large Jingle (?) is from Madagascar. I have tried to photograph my shells (as seen in my "From the Sea" folder) but have not been pleased with the background I have used. I like the color you chose for your background, the arrangement of your shells, and the beautiful sharp colors. The Scallop Shell is one of my favorites but I rarely find them intact like this. During a recent trip to Holden Beach Island, NC., we walked along the beach while the tide was going out and was pleased to find many whole Sanddollars washed up on shore. Shells are truly tresures from the sea. Thanks for your recent comments and suggestions on my photo of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Rebekah B. Link to comment
