davidmccracken 2 Posted November 7, 2009 6° Celsius (42.8°F) Pouring rain as is usual in Scotland and beautiful model who said she was brave. I agree. Shot in available light. There wasn't much of that. Feedback appreciated Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 8, 2009 Something a bit different from you! The green lushness of the background foliage offsets the model beautifully, and I like the movement in the water. Was this made early morning or late afternoon? I'm just looking at the way the light falls on her. I'm a bit concerned about the highlights...a bit hot, perhaps?...but not enough to take much away from the shot. The young lady is beautiful, of course, and I love the way she is posed within the composition...against the water's flow, rather than with it, and her placement in the frame gives the water room to flow. Her hands are perfectly placed. I like her look into the lens instead of doing some sort of arty staring off into the distance thing. What I'm thinking is that her pose provides a bit of tension in what would otherwise be a pastoral scene. Anyway, I like it. Any more from this series? Knowing you, I'm thinking yes. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted November 11, 2009 Franz, Indeed she is! Jim,Thanks for you detailed critique and comment. The photograph was taken mid afternoon although you would never have known that if you had been there. It was extrmely overcast and it was pouring with rain. I got soaked and I had my clothes on. I did have flash units and reflectors with me but the weather made their use impossible. In the end, I just went with the available light. Personally, I think the hots spots are too hot but hopefully there are enough distractions to take your mind of them. This wasn't my favourite from the shoot but it was one of the model's. I may upload more later. Link to comment
JPPhoto1664880217 2 Posted November 14, 2009 I particularly like the quality of the light, it works well with the pose. Everything works well here to produce a beautiful image, in spite of the temperature (the Scots are a hardy people!). As Jim Adams said, this is different from most of your other work. My compliments to you both. Jim Phelps Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted November 16, 2009 Thanks for the comment. I particularly like your mention of the quality of the light. There wasn't any! ISO 800 and 1/8 second at maximum aperture. Thank goodness for tripods. The model deserves all the credit for this. She is a hardy creature indeed. Certainly more hardy than me. Link to comment
