bruno_lombard1 0 Posted November 6, 2009 It is a photo very subtle regarding light and colours... I do not know whether it is a black and white photo.. I'd rather say that colour is emerging and ready to reveal itself... The rain makes a play with light and every and each tree seems self conscious... The lines of the composition makes the scenery a-temporal and could be in vietnam but of the trees... I admire very much your work and your mastery of composition and light. Rien qu'un mot, ou plutôt 2 : mille bravos !! Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted November 6, 2009 David, I'm torn between this and the first. I think that the layering, and shadows in both are superb. I assume that you have use a grad on the sky? It is a wonderful play of almost monochrome tempered with hints of colour. Link to comment
davidclapp 0 Posted November 6, 2009 Hello all, many thanks for taking the time to write, I appreciate it. It is a colour shot, in fact there is nothing done to the colour at all, it's what mist does I guess, making everything appear monochrome. The sun had got quite high up and was diving under a thick layer of cloud, so thats why the lower half of the picture is almost in shadow. There were no filters needed as the contrast was rather low (but you know me, I wouldn't use them anyway as I prefer exposure blending) It was a matter of processing the image with careful balance, going by feel and look rather than histograms. All the information is in the midtones and the highlights, there is literally no black at all. As long as the image is processed without cranking the sliders all over the place the magic is truly preserved. 1DsIII, 300mm 2.8 + 2xII at f11 1/4sec focused using Live View. Link to comment
vincenzo_corbo 0 Posted November 7, 2009 The rays of light through the trees with the morning mist gives an awesome effect. Really great image. Link to comment

rod_lewis 0 Posted November 24, 2009 Been hoping to get a shot like this somewhere around the Bridport/Marshwood Vale area for a long time now. Have tried many times but the conditions have never been right. Wicked shot! Link to comment
