jeffl7 0 Posted November 6, 2009 I hate the damn rating system, which rewards pixel-playing fantasy and penalizes glorious reality like this. This could serve as the stage for an incredibly complex tragedy/comedy/farce. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted November 6, 2009 Thanks. With your rate, I almost made it to average with this one. Really, though, it's cool. I guess it is just another average shot of the goofy world we live in. Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted November 8, 2009 harsh reality is something I am interested in photography...it's not so hard to do good photo of nice looking subject...I always found subjective approaches and personal thematics more appealing...that's why I like this image David, for the message and decaying life it present and your search to record it...not to mention the colors and straightforward compo that suits the subject well. bosshogg 4 Posted November 8, 2009 Thanks a bunch. Somehow I don't envision this as the sort of scene that would be at all familiar to you Europeans. But I'm glad you find some merit in it. Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted November 8, 2009 well I would not idealise Europe for it has its own problems that are huge as well...in Switzerland particularly land is so small and scarce that we cannot afford to let it abandonned...so I would say we care because we have to, not because we care better...at the end people are everywhere about the same and there is always a kind of logic in their behavior even if the logic is not straightforward to see and understand... donna pallotta 107 Posted November 8, 2009 I'm so satisfied that you dig the parable in my Building a Human Nest, David. I feel exactly the same about your The Comforts of Home; we should all feel confident to assign our parable pictures to the documentary category. Photography is about more than pictorial light; it's enlightenment too. d Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted November 8, 2009 Wise words for which I thank you. Glad you liked this. Some days I just try to snag a little piece of the day to save for the future. This is one of those. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted November 10, 2009 Your title adds some humor and more of an irony to a tough human life situation. .It is a documentary photograph that I appreciate much, I wonder about Jeff and yourself, you both are quite a long time in this net to know that the rating has nothing to do with the photo's quality, and human life difficulties ! even if we are asking for critique, rating is not really critique, especially without a reason, let alone understanding what photography is all about. This photo touched me , it is so much you ( good !) ,Dave. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 21, 2009 Great shot. Classic. Love the pastel colors of the tub, almost a homage to the Impressionists in the midst of the very unimpressionistic field. There's an incomplete and imaginative story here. I actually don't necessarily think there's a connection between the tub and the trailer. Could be very unrelated. But the juxtaposition and title suggest otherwise. Nice composition as always. Me, I would have waited til the naked guy came out to bathe and shot that ;) Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted November 29, 2009 It just doen't get any better than this, a fixer-upper with swimming pool. Who says the American dream is dead! Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted December 1, 2009 I was about to suggest the inclusion of a model or a self portrait being inside the tube, but than I realized I can't see what may already be inside of it. Don't tell me, I don't need to know. Nice shot David, that tube is a real beauty. Link to comment
BelaMolnar 2 Posted January 13, 2010 You made me laugh again. A very nice cosy bathroom with sky light. Ha,ha, ha. The mockery of life all over us. Cheers; Bela Link to comment
