Given the current debate going on

(http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=001gZr) about

photography vs. digital art, I thought this image would be

interesting. To me, it's still a photograph, but others may argue

differently. I'm interested in any suggestions on composition, toning,

etc. Next interesting sunset, I'm planning to head out with some b&w

film to attempt to replicate this in my wet darkroom. Thanks for your

help.

I like the feel of this picture very much- they way my eye is drawn to the lower center, then supported by the elements in the middle background. The one distraction for me is the thing sticking up on the horizon on the right. Beautiful pic, though, thanks for posting!

Maybe crop the top portion of the photo to rid the distractions in the background. Just a thought and my photo eye is not that great.

No, i don't think it should be cropped...old pilings are always interesting to me...however they are very often photographed...This is really interesting though, because you have such interesting tones. These horizontal stripes of light and dark on the water, which are repeated in the sky are an interesting contrast to the black verticality of the pilings. The pilings in the backfround emphasize the horizontal dark ness... and I think it works well since the pilings are not very sharp....
