A male lion up on a tree??? This is the first time I see something like that.Lions in lake Manyara (Tanzania) are famous for their climbing abillities but not the male ones!It obviously looks like an old shot as colors have fainted but the captured moment on this shot is brilliant! Theodore, thanks very much for your review of this ancient slide. The original film was Ektachrome,often giving this yellowish-blue hue to the photos. Apart from that, I don't think female emancipation has occurred under lions, allowing them to be the only ones to climb trees. Here's a website from 2006, where you can see male lions up in the trees: http://acaciaphoto.com/blog/?p=13 .......

So, 40 years after I captured this sleeping male, his male descendents are still doing the climbing. Cheers, Sam.
