Pietro and Will -- thank you for your kind comments. Thanks to every one rated this photograph. I still don't understand why I received a 3/3 for this.
Will ... title changed [thanks for the suggestion]!

Juluis,

The 3/3 rate does not speak of this photo. It speaks more for the person who gave it. I read a suggestion another pnetter made and I thought it was an excellent idea. Have a bonehead rate of the week and make the anonymous rater visible. This great photo and the stupid 3/3 rate would certainly qualify.

Great photo, lovely composition, and I like the B&W. Here here Will, some idiots get a kick out of rating 3/3, nearly everybody gets them., they are just faceless cowards and jealous. PN should ban all 3/3s unless they can justify a comment to back it up.

Best regards on this great shot

Michael.

Great capture here. Yes, they are heroes! Do you know that in America firefighters are voted the sexiest profession?!!! I keep telling my nephew that! Don't worry about the 3/3's...just about everyone gets them. Good work.

Smokin'. Yes! Um, actually, I like the other, similar image where the focus is almost singularly on the three firefighters walking toward the photographer.

Julius, both images are superb in conveying a sense of the dignity of these fighters, a respect for their profession and the importance of their work. Truly excellent captures. You should send these to them, I feel they will be very well received... M :)

A great photo. I can appreciate their profession even more since my husband was a firefighter for over twenty years. God bless everyone of them....

There's no doubt that this shot could easily fit in an exposition. Concerning the low rating(s), I absolutely agree with what Michael H. said before me, especially since these absurdities affect other talented people, as well. Most of us are not here for the ratings, I'm sure, but it still is annoying, unfair and perhaps disappointing when behind the curtain of fast anonimity, such things are allowed to happen.

I know what you mean: either I can not understand why you have received any ratings below the average -- this image is interesting, unusual and technically very balanced and excellent! I don`t understad those people who rate these kind of photos like that. Do they know anything about taking photos? They seem to be only crooked amatheurs, getting some twisted pleasure of spoiling other peoples days, trying to disappoint them and make them feel bad about themselves. You should not care about them.

Also I have received very low ratings without understanding WHY. I hate when they just rate my carefully planned and taken photo without even looking it properly, arrogantly and summarly. If you are interested, take a look at my portrait of my cousin Sara (in the folder Black and White). It has received almost only 3s. Why? Is it really so bad? I don`t understand.

GREAT picture and I love it in the B&W

WONDERFUL! I have no CLUE why it would get some of those low ratings! The last few days several low hitters have happened... who knows ;) ~ micki

This is superb! the contrasts are excellent and tones beautiful and it holds tons of interest (I hope nobody was injured or was this an excercise?) If you know who the 3/3 rater is go and bug for an explanation - that's what I did - and I found out she gave out 65 or 70 1/1's and 2/2 in one day so my 3/3 was pretty high for her. Her name is Alexandra Malia and she has still not given me an explanation for the 3/3 - maybe she though she could pump up her rates by doing that??? who knows? This does not deserve 3/3 - jealous petty people I think.

Micki & Jan ~ Thank you so much for your generous comments. This was not an exercise, as I was driving for lunch [on Memorial Day] saw this fire. Few months later the fireman [the one in foreground] wanted to buy a high resolution version of this. He donated [on my behalf] a fair amount to one of the firemen's charity and I sent few shots from this shoot. After selling a photograph do I still qualify to be amateur [i hope so!]?
