alejandrokeller 0 Posted September 20, 2005 You did a great job... I saw the whole folder and was shocked (even if it is nothing new to me). This image in particular is very special because it shows the will to live. He looks happy despide his lifestyle. And it would be ridiculous to argue that he does not know there is something else.Compliments, Alejandro Link to comment
graham john miles 0 Posted December 13, 2006 You know there are many ways to photograph adversity and a common approach is to concentrate too much on the misery and degradation. I feel that does the subject further cruel injustice and to be quite honest I don't want to be reminded so forcefully of things I already know and have no power to change. The beauty of this image is that you have captured the dignity of your subject. In the most appalling conditions this young man gave you a smile that would not be amiss in a middle class neighborhood anywhere in the western world. For this instant, he has risen above his surroundings and you have captured the moment perfectly. I congratulate you. Link to comment

xpiotiavos 0 Posted October 25, 2007 fantastic capture. i think this really show how screwed up our world is, not only that our greed has produced a world economy that causes situations like this, but also that we rich folk so often forget that happiness (and joy, even) is possible even in such deplorable conditions. this boy reminds me of the children i met in Swaziland--orphans, beggars, homeless, and smiling and laughing every minute of the day (except, humorously enough, when you point a camera at them--the "starving child" faces come out as soon as the camera does!) again, fantastic photograph. burn 0 Posted September 6, 2008 Not only It has great colors, wich I like, but the subject is very good, has a message. Makes you think how a man like him can laugh in such conditions, and us in better conditions , always have to complain. Link to comment
