Loved your profile page--you said what most of us think.

This is an increadible image! Love the perspective and the tones are just beautiful. There seems to be quite a "tonal" or "quality" difference between some of your images. I read one of your comments and you mentioned you scanned a print--are some images scanned print vs. scanned film? This image (and several others) looks to be scanned film as it is full of detail with zero artifacts.

Very nice job.

Thank you! Yes, this one is a negative scan. You can see quite a few Newton's rings in the sky area unfortunately. Once I get time to work on photography again - never enough time you know - I plan on updating my gallery and fixing some of the scans. The print of this negative is similar to this scan, but without the rings. As far as tonal range and values go, it is quite similar to the actual print - I always try to make the scans appear as close to the actual print as I can.

Thanks for the kind words!

Love this picture - Is this the Ponce Inlet Light? I just took some shots of this a few weeks ago - what a great lighthouse!! I like it in Black and White!

Cheers!

A very good photo; good enough to adorn the cover of some of those books on photography techniques. This is more a query than a critique - what are Newton's rings (are they the two thumbprint like bits at the top?) and why do they occur?

Samrat,

First, you are very kind my friend. Now, as to the Newton's rings, you have it exactly - here is a link that is somewhat detailed, but the explanation can be found in the first paragraph.
