I keep coming back to this one because it reminds me of my dorm room in Switzerland back in 1960. We were on top of the Zugerberg and there were days like this when I felt like you could walk part way down the mountain, then step right out onto this firm white surface and keep right on walking.

As this seems to be among the most popular of my mountain pictures, I thought it is a nice place to give you a preview of many other shots you can find in my folders.

Enjoy!

I did not see that one before, it is realy touching the edge..( of life as well..)I never saw an image of a woman doing it( amazing green shoes even here...)Really a brave one.

Composition transfers the atmospher of the hight, IMO if the gap between the back of the climber and the mountain was connected together, it was forming a full trangle, and she was looking like a "part" of the mountain.Amazing image. Pnina

Pnina, actually in a most of my mountaineering pictures the subject is a girl! Sometimes you cannot really tell it since there is a large distance, some other times is evident, like here or here.

As for the back against the mountains, you have a point: I have a full series of her maneuver to go around this very exposed rock spur, and might post another one sometimes.

Salvator, I did not see these two before, In the first it is clear , in the second her face are very shadowed, at least on my monitor, and it is harder to identify she is a woman. but in this one the hight, the danger, the energy, the courage, the challenge all is very well demonstrated. ( and the green shoes that are simply great, and even her face are not seen, it hints that she is a woman.)...

What a view. Only for the brave and willing. Her manouvering into a better foothold is perfect as opposed to just standing there. The blanket of clouds gives me a false sense of security for her foot holds also. Great shot!

Considering the conditions where the picture were taken, I think this picture is great in all possible ways. What I especially like about this picture, is that it has this achievement feeling in it. If the person was standing and smiling, it would change the picture.

Herman, I see very clearly your point, and this is exactly what I wanted to protray. I am glad this made it through.

At any rate, she was indeed smiling at the end of the passage.

This is perhaps one of the photos which depicts best the joy and thrill to climb mountains. Ueber den Wolken muss die Freiheit wohl grenzenlos sein!? ;-). Karl

Indeed, Karl. When I am not tired, worried, stressed, or all of them, I am always happy up there... but I need not describe this to you I guess! To me, however, happiness is also on the high seas.

Amazing image. This is a stunning capture that makes you feel like you're about to fall with just one small misstep. Great job.

I get vertigo just looking at the photo--so, YES, it does convey a powerful sense of being there! Excellent work!
