This image is part of my photo.net review of the Canon Powershot G2. Using a wide aperture and the camera's ISO 400 setting, I was able to capture this moment without flash. The RAW file was converted to JPG using the tungsten balance setting, thus removing a very orange cast to the image.

Randy, I appreciate your nice comments. The grainy look is a technical minus for this photo. Also, the frame above his head is an aesthetic minus -- I considered taking the frame out with Photoshop. I really like the moment, however.

Ever considered converting your high-noise shots to greyscale? In my experience, the noise looks a lot of film grain and lends an 'authentic' quality to the image (allbeit one that could be easily added in post with pshp's noise filter).
