forrest_andrew 0 Posted August 12, 2005 great choice using the fill flash. very effective in bringing out the color and detail in the rocks. never would have guessed there was 5 stops of ND grad across the top - seamlessly done and with very natural, and appealing results. all in all - awesome!! BrettPrucha 0 Posted August 15, 2005 Andrew, Their is not a 5 stop filter at the top, only in the middle where the sun is. A "reverse "ND grad filter was used. From the Singh-Ray site a reverse grad is described as "at their horizontal middle started very abruptly with either a 1, 2 or 3 stops of neutral density and then graduate to 1 or 2 stops towards the top of the filter". forrest_andrew 0 Posted August 15, 2005 thanks Brett - right you are, my mistake. i've only used 'standard' ND grads myself and therefore don't think of reverse filters right away. however, as Christian has demonstrated so well, reverse grads clearly have their place in a camera bag and can create wonderful results when used well. great shot again Christian!
