Lars, looks as though the PC work turned out very well to enhance the effect...Well thought out....Jim

I do not know if Jim is right, and the effect was achieved with PS, but the result it is very good, no doubt. I like the fact you have cropped both the running boy and the wooden bench.

There are excellent photographs (your first version) and then there are photographs that resonate on a deeper more essential level (This one). I've now seen two photographs that you've edited and in both cases you've managed to come up with an image that illuminates the commonality of human experience. (The other one was the blurred picture of the people on the bike. I was surprised when I saw the original since few would think of actually blurring the image. The unexpected creative touch, the result of an artist with a curious mind).

One last comment. For some reason I like the decision to exit the boy stage right and to crop him partly out of the frame. I think you cropped the bench also. The resulting tension created by the vast empty space right in the middle of the frame removes any sense of cuteness from the scene. Finally, the decision to drop the color was correct, I think. It was certainly not necessary to the image and served (now that we see the final product) as somewhat of a distraction. In the original, the bench was nearly monochrome while the boy was rendered in color, albeit subdued color. This slightly unbalanced the picture, I thought (again in retrospect, after comparison with the new image). In short, I think all your instincts concerning this picture were true ones. This is one of the best photographs I have seen on photo.net I applaud you.
