giggles 0 Posted August 4, 2005 I know many of you do not like the selective coloring effect --- but as you can tell from my portfolio I do. This one happens to be one of my favorites with the pink ribbon emphasizing the gift of a baby "girl". Thanks for your feedback. Link to comment
bro 0 Posted August 4, 2005 I like it when it's done well. Love the shot! I think my mom would too ;) Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted August 4, 2005 Emily- This is spectacular! I love your creativity. I'm not really fond of selective color images, but this one is an exception! You've made me a believer! I can see this being a hit with new parents for birth announcements! In pink & blue! Compositionally, I'd like to see either a little more room on the left or a little less on the right. I still give it a 7/7! I'm going to try to rate this thru the request queue so it counts, but no promises! (awe, I love success) Nice job! Link to comment
jkbullen 0 Posted August 4, 2005 very Anne Geddes !!! - you gotta be happy with this one - who knows, with this sort of skill you too could be a squillionaire like Ms Geddes Link to comment
giggles 0 Posted August 4, 2005 Thanks critiquers... I just took this yesterday along with numerous others. Some yet to come. She is one month old and I find it so challenging to pose such little ones - especially when the parents don't want to be in the shot. Jayme - funny you should mention the announcement idea because that is what the mom wanted me to create - ideas for her announcement. I thought about this one on the outside of card and a small one of her face in the corner of the inside along with all the stats.... Thanks again - Emily Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted August 4, 2005 Obviously Toby has a problem! :) Just kidding! Emily- I love soft background. What did you use? Link to comment
giggles 0 Posted August 4, 2005 I recently order a white backdrop off of ebay - I only paid $14.00 for it so I was excited....until I received it. It turned out to be a poly paper-canvas like substance that wrinkles extremely easy. But after I used it - in this shot and in the one of the "glowing baby" I think it works ok - can't be picky when dealing with $14.00. I'm still looking for a reasonable high key muslin though... giggles 0 Posted August 4, 2005 Hey to the viewers that gave me 1/1 and 2/2 - I'd appreciate some feedback with your ratings. I don't think I've ever given a 1/1... You must see something that I have missed and I'd love to hear from you. Link to comment

jayme 0 Posted August 12, 2005 Emily- I bought a 9ft x12ft latex primed canvas floor cloth from DickBlick art supplies. It was fairly inexpensive. Really heavy though. It came rolled up on a cardboard roller. My plans for it in the future are to try painting it myself. I have not decided exactly what I want to do with it. I thought of black & white checks or maybe just using pastel colors & one of those natural sponge rollers. I haven't hit upon the right idea yet. I keep looking & looking. I have some ideas for some props I want to build &/or find. I'm always looking. Garage sales, antique stores, flea markets. I have a brown & tan mottled canvas muslin backdrop 9x20, I am not fond of it's reddish casting. I think I want it to be more grayish. I like the softness of this background. How big is it? Not that it has to be that big :) Such a sweet baby! Link to comment
giggles 0 Posted August 12, 2005 Jayme - this backdrop is only 6'x9' but then like you said when dealing with one child, especially infants that don't move it doesn't have to be that big. I bought it really cheap from a lady on ebay. I could email her user name to you if you'd like. She was selling two at the time I purchase so I am sure she'll be selling more. Let me know. I am taking a set of three older children this Tuesday so I am trying to think of something different and fun for them. I just bought three new backdrops....pink/yellow mottled, gray mottled and brown/light blue mottled. Good luck painting. Let me know how it turns out and maybe someday I'll give it a shot. There is also a person on ebay selling natural muslin really cheap just for the purpose of painting...an idea for you. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted October 21, 2009 Wonderful sentiment. I'm not sure if it's my monitor but the tops of the towels seem to be blasted out. All the same, it's a beautiful image. Link to comment
