alecee 0 Posted August 7, 2005 Nice warm tones Jayme. Somehow it has an outdoor feel for this setting like as if it's natural lighting. Perhaps it's the props you use and the warm colors. Lovely to look at. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted August 8, 2005 I loved hearing the background behind this shot and how you take kid shots. I like candids the best. Interesting how this IS a candid, yet the little girl did a classic "pose". Such an adorable expression; I bet her mom just loved this shot! Link to comment
vincetylor 0 Posted August 8, 2005 While I think your colors, lighting and tones are really exceptional here Jayme, (and catchlights are a non issue at this distance) I find the image is a bit off balance, leaning right-side heavy in my opinion. Perhaps as Wilson mentioned, if she was titling her head to the left side filling up some of that empty space, or if the right side was a bit less busy. With the flowers in her hat meeting the flowers decorating the background, it seems a bit much on that side. Then I as I look at the empty left side, I get the off-balance feeling here. I am also not so sure about the position of her feet, but that is much less of an issue in my mind. Still, even though it could improve with a few minor adjustments, I still think you have really created a nice piece of art. Once again, Really outstanding tones and colors here. Aloha. jayme 0 Posted August 11, 2005 Vincent :) Nice to hear from you! I do not argue it seems a little off balance. What to do? Hum.... I think it's not only her lean but that out of place white flower in the upper right. Makes her look like she has horns! So I played and burned it in and did a little more dodging on the left background! Good thing I'm not developing this thing the old fashion way, I'd have hundreds in materials! Now.... I think this is a little better. No conflict about the catch light, there's only one:) Funny you should mention this, I just read a new book on studio portrait lighting. It was all about how to create those (highly desirable :) 2 or more catch lights. I laughed right out loud! :)I was leafing through a high brow magazine the other day, I noticed this image of a woman with 4 arching catch lights in the bottom of the irises of her eyes, created by a fold out reflector, I think. It mimics eye lashes in her eyes, strange, but it did make her eyes stand out quite a bit. Interesting effect. I may have to try it sometime, just for fun! Thanks for visiting! Link to comment

mbrown 1 Posted September 5, 2005 Wow Jayme, you have progressed enormously since I first found you on here quite a while ago. It's great that you are following the dream, I really envy you. This is an amazing photo, with some stunning post production work, excellent lighting. I hope youre having fun with the lighting, I bought my studio lisghting about a month ago and havn't had a chance to give them a work out yet (not that I have anywhere t use them at the moment). Great stuff Jayme, I'm off to look throught the rest of your stuff. Link to comment
tina_ness 0 Posted November 2, 2005 I like the original undodged version much better. I love how the background was kept so dark, it really makes her pop. How did the image turn out in canvas? I hope you had it done in the original version!!!Well Done!!! Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted May 3, 2006 Tim- Thanks. She posed herself after being asked by her mother "What are you going to do when you get home?" A really doll :) Link to comment
