Guest Guest Posted August 2, 2005 A little stark, and very peaceful. Was the sky really this color, or were you on painkillers again?? Link to comment
mcgarity 0 Posted August 2, 2005 Kim Alas I must confess I was sober when I processed this image. At least I thought I was. I suppose there could have been some residual pain killers left in my bloodstream. :) The morning I took this photo it there was a lot of cloud cover and the sky was pretty washed out. A straight forward print of the photo would not have looked like this. But I really didn't have to do much manipulation to get it this way either. Whether thats a good thing or bad thing everyone will have to decide for themselves. I got exactly the look I was going for so on a personal basis I am happy with it. It looks much better when you view it at the larger size, but then thats almost always true. The color in the photo kind of grew out of the levels and curves adjustments I used to achieve the effect I wanted. To be specific I love silouhettes so thats what I was going for with the windmill. I also wanted a very grainy look. I won't bore you with a lot of technical details. Lets just say it involved moving the gray point in a levels adjustment WAY over to the right and in lab color mode making minor tweeks to the A and B channels in a curves window. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 3, 2005 It's so neat the way you do that. I love silhouettes, too. Someday I'm going to learn how to do all this stuff. Hope you're feeling better! Link to comment
mcgarity 0 Posted August 4, 2005 Kim I highly recommend the following website if you want to learn more about Photoshop. Its well worth the time and effort. It covers the things that a person needs to know if they want to improve their digital photographs. There is a lot more to Photoshop than they can cover. But they do a very good job covering the basics. http://epaperpress.com/psphoto/ Re my foot. All I can say is damn Plantar Fascitis. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 5, 2005 Ouch, that makes it hard to walk to photo ops! Is it bad enough for surgery yet? You have my sympathy. As for the website, thanks! I'm going to explore it, and keep at trying to learn this stuff! Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted August 6, 2005 I hope they help enough so you can get out and not be in too much pain, Larry. We don't want to be deprived of new Larry photos :) Link to comment
